The daily link

It appears some of us are interested in the business of trading, hopefully for both fun and profit.
Here's a place to talk about that. I suggest two main categories. How to trade (timeless), and what are you trading now, and why, and how it turned out. Those tend to be missing from the pro boards, so pundits can have selective memory....but that's not all that is important. Being wrong is part of the game, and how to handle it and make money anyway is crucial, for just one example.

Saw this...too good to not preserve.

Employee Notice

Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the economy, Congress has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early, mandatory retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment.

This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).

Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to Congress to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).

Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).

A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Congress deems appropriate.

Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).

Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Congress.

Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Congress has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.

Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your Congressman, who has been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.

Sincerely,

The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)

PS - Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

Sounds familiar! - politicians should be given five years to do all they are going too, no mater who they are and then discarded and not allowed to stand again - turn them over and don't allow to stagnate  - if you run out of politicians pick people at random off the street.

Or, politicians should be changed with the same regularity as a baby's diapers - and for the same reason.
Think where you'd be now if yours had the same guts and honesty as those in Iceland. Guess the banks forgot to buy off the latter.

Haven't been logging trades etc for a bit - changing market conditions have required full attention, and change so fast that anything I post as a good idea might be a bad one by the time anyone else reads it - rendering it pointless. But I'm doing fine....

Euro isn't though.

Sorry I've not been posting trades lately. In and out before you could read about them anyway, doing well mostly going short for short times, then back out.

But this link - things are worse than I thought, and I'm getting to be glad I've got real resources stashed, not just playing money games.

Yeah, there's more bad paper - every one of these bets has a winner and loser - than the entire value of the solar system. It's worse now than when it was out of hand just before the last big crash. Real close to duck and cover time now. One false move and this whole clusterfck of paper comes crashing down - no one can pay when the ripples begin...it's like they don't care anymore, but at this point, no one can bail them out, just like Germany can't actually bail out the eurozone - there's not enough Germany to do it.

There's not enough earth to handle this. and yup, it's all legal - your leaders know, and let this come to pass, often encouraging it to get that next lap in the power lane. Sociopaths all, and people think I'm weird.

Dow vs gold over long periods. Interesting.

Re: The daily link - the end of America

Is nigh. The House just passed the bill that completely legalizes fascism. Unconsitutional, of course, but now one can be arrested without due process for merely owning a few maps, or taking pictures with no aesthetic value, or having over 7 days of food stored, among a host of other things perfectly normal people do. Like speak out against our government.

Y'all be sure and kick up a fuss if they disappear me - I'll be looking forward to some good company.

There's a really nice new forum out there - must be full of crazy people, they seem to like me.
The read link is:
http://www.pmbug.com/

And the new member register link is:

Here's an example thread, some good writing on it, even if some of it is mine.
http://www.pmbug.com/forum/f9/wednesday-rant-331/

This is the only "gold bug" place out there where you can even mention say, shorting gold and not be thrown out with your clothing on fire from the flames. There are some seriously good thinkers on this one, not mono-maniacs. The themes also include other forms of getting ready for bad times - not just gold buggery.

A friend over at PMBug posted this touching video about "change for a dollar". Not the same type of change that springs to mind, though - this is good stuff, and worth the time to watch.
Merry Christmas to all!

While on the topic of change. While I'm a member of and post on some boards that support a lot of doom and gloom, end of the world as we know it, and extreme gold-buggery as the answer to all questions, I've recently written an eloquent (for me) refutation of much of that, and at least one of those outfits didn't just send me out the door with my pants on fire over it. Things are looking up! Believe me, challenging gold-buggery usually gets one even more violent results from the fan boys than dissing the Apple bling du jour. These are nice guys who have brains, and some of them are turning up here too as a lot of them are engineers...

Not too much more to say on that, but if you've read Asimov's Foundation series of SciFi - there are more ways than one to prepare for coming bad times, and his approach is one that deserves more consideration than beans, bullion, and bullets. *We* are the first foundation!
