hello from saint augustine florida >_<

Post here once you join, and tell us about yourself so we have a clue who we are talking to.
Keep threads short here -- once you have something to say, there's a topic here somplace where it will fit -- and if not, let me know and I will make subforums as necessary. We want all of hard science and tech up here, and if something doesn't fit -- that's my fault and I will fix that for you. See the rules and tips in the parent forum, please.
Forum rules
This sub forum is for new menbers to announce themselves. Try not to create long threads here -- this is just for you to tell us who you are, and for us to say welcome. There are other forums to actually discuss real tech-science things here, and ask questions on. The idea hopefully is to have enough forums and subforums that nothing sci-tech related will be off-topic, there will be a place for it. If I missed something -- let me know, and I'll fix that.

hello everyone! and thank you for the add m(-_-)m

i recently ran into Dougs video and figured this if anyplace would be able to help with trying to learn to make a very particular kind of ink that has been a close kept secret for hundreds of years and is also a dying art(which is a bad combination for me), to be exact the ink is solid sumi ink sticks made in Nara japan(which im not sure which section of this forum would be best to ask about this).

i am a artist and nerd(and borderline hikkikomori) , a artist almost completely in traditional mediums and along the vein of pop surrealism, and a nerd mostly in videogames and animation(along with golden/silver age, and international comics)

sooo... yeah , if you need any kind of recommendations or reference material of the above let me know, ill likely help until you wish you didnt ask >_<

Welcome Nick! I think of all the people I know here, that Dave Knight might be the man who has (or can find) the answers you need, but he'd probably need a small sample and a little knowledge of what makes this stuff more special vs what you can buy in stores.
Dave just posted on Silver plating in electro-chemistry so you know who that is. He lives near me, so only one sample would be required for us to both have a look. We are adding some other guys who know chemistry, but I'm only getting through a few a day at present - it's going to take a week or two to get all the new guys in here and settled.

Edit: hint, after posting about 3 times here, private messaging works for you...

very cool, thanks again!! would it be preferable to send him a PM about it or should i also post a thread on the forums ( would "machining and fabrication > materials" be the most appropriate section to ask about it? )

Either would work. Hmmm, one of the things I like about new guys with different interests here is that it helps show just how hard it is to pigeon hole science into a neat little set of categories! (don't you hate people with drop down lists and their limitations?) Add art, and well, it was already impossible. Yeah, for now, probably materials. If we get a lot of stuff that fits better together, we'll simply add another pigeon hole and move it there instead, so it stays minimally incoherent.
