Yea, well gidday! John from New Zealand checking in.

Post here once you join, and tell us about yourself so we have a clue who we are talking to.
Keep threads short here -- once you have something to say, there's a topic here somplace where it will fit -- and if not, let me know and I will make subforums as necessary. We want all of hard science and tech up here, and if something doesn't fit -- that's my fault and I will fix that for you. See the rules and tips in the parent forum, please.

This sub forum is for new menbers to announce themselves. Try not to create long threads here -- this is just for you to tell us who you are, and for us to say welcome. There are other forums to actually discuss real tech-science things here, and ask questions on. The idea hopefully is to have enough forums and subforums that nothing sci-tech related will be off-topic, there will be a place for it. If I missed something -- let me know, and I'll fix that.

Hi, I am a newly retired software engineer who spent most of his adult lift in the aviation field.

We have a new house in Ashburton where I spend a lot of time in my workshop or playing around with my new playmates at the local aviation museum. :D

I do not have a deep knowledge in any particular field of science or engineering but I do like to dabble in new things, new to me anyway!

Hi John

We are 80k from Shakeytown and generally free the effects of the shakes, excepting for the old buildings around town, some red stickered but many more facing strengthening or reduction to rubble.

Are you the folks half way up K Gorge? I am ZL2AYQ though It is many years since my filaments felt the hot surge of electrons, I worked HF only and mostly CW, that and going to junque sales of course. I spent a fair bit of time out at Quartz Hill too. We left Wellington early last year.

John

P.S. Did a bit of yachting too, two of us crossed the blue Pacific in a 32' sloop back in the '70's, going the wrong way starting at Niue.

Welcome to the board, glad to have you!
Posting as just me, not as the forum owner. Everything I say is "in my opinion" and YMMV -- which should go for everyone without saying.
