Greetings from Florida

Post here once you join, and tell us about yourself so we have a clue who we are talking to.
Keep threads short here -- once you have something to say, there's a topic here somplace where it will fit -- and if not, let me know and I will make subforums as necessary. We want all of hard science and tech up here, and if something doesn't fit -- that's my fault and I will fix that for you. See the rules and tips in the parent forum, please.
Forum rules
This sub forum is for new menbers to announce themselves. Try not to create long threads here -- this is just for you to tell us who you are, and for us to say welcome. There are other forums to actually discuss real tech-science things here, and ask questions on. The idea hopefully is to have enough forums and subforums that nothing sci-tech related will be off-topic, there will be a place for it. If I missed something -- let me know, and I'll fix that.

Hello all! I am ancona, and want to thank Doug for the invite. I'll try and be unobtrusive and to not ask stupid questions! I have a background as an engineer, and as such have some math and science background, however not nearly at the level I have seen here. I hope to continue my on-going education on the forum and hope to learn something new every week.

Welcome! I happen to know ancona from elsewhere - market trading and such things. You should mention your business so people here know what you do - you never know, someone here might need your services at some point. Enjoy your time here! That's one of the missions of this board. For things you're not sure of, put them on the water cooler forum - that one auto-deletes things (if no moderator makes them sticky) if there are no new posts after awhile - it's a self-cleaning forum for the odd bits we find amusing. It's a good place for questions and trial balloons. Other questions that are related to an existing topic go best on one of the threads on that topic, so the answers will be there too.
Posting as just me, not as the forum owner. Everything I say is "in my opinion" and YMMV -- which should go for everyone without saying.
