Post here once you join, and tell us about yourself so we have a clue who we are talking to.
Keep threads short here -- once you have something to say, there's a topic here somplace where it will fit -- and if not, let me know and I will make subforums as necessary. We want all of hard science and tech up here, and if something doesn't fit -- that's my fault and I will fix that for you. See the rules and tips in the parent forum, please.
Forum rules
This sub forum is for new menbers to announce themselves. Try not to create long threads here -- this is just for you to tell us who you are, and for us to say welcome. There are other forums to actually discuss real tech-science things here, and ask questions on. The idea hopefully is to have enough forums and subforums that nothing sci-tech related will be off-topic, there will be a place for it. If I missed something -- let me know, and I'll fix that.

Hi, I am currently busy building a fusor. That's why I stumbled across this great site. For a fusor I need a neutron detector, of course it would be easier to buy some bubble device, but instead I bought some russian SNM tubes on ebay from the Ukraine.

I am also interested in quad or octocopters big enough to fly a human, that will be my next project.

I think I have a fairly decent theoretical knowledge of math and physics but I never did any real hands on stuff until now. Well I did repair a few TVs when I was younger. And broke a few things too. I am much better with Linux and so on. But this is exciting here.

Looking forward to all the interesting stuff going on here,

Welcome Alex! We have some good info up here on neutron detectors, including the Russian tubes, which while a little flakey are a lot better IMO than the bubble guys - at least they live a lot longer and give some real time information.

You're going to get a real baptism in hands on getting a good vacuum system going with fine gas control, and another in high voltage power supply foibles if our experience is any guide.

There are a lot of fliers here as members - maybe someone here can advise you on that project.
