How this should work

For those who are willing to help others.

This is for those who don't mind doing something a little extra for others, using their core expertise, so the other guy can get on with his project in his own field. Barter is encouraged, if it's for money that's fine too, however.

How this should work

Lets suppose you have some core expertise, something you are good enough at to do easily, that would be a real struggle for someone else to do at all, and which would hold up their own projects if they had to to it all themselves. If you are willing to help others, create a post here under your name with a listing of what you can do, and allow others to contact you to make a deal. In turn, they may have something they do that you don't or something to barter. The idea here is that not only physical things are barter-stuff, but also skills and time.

For example, I have a machine shop (though I suspect Jerry's is superior :D ), an electroplating line, a serious electronics lab, and a ton of interesting old electronic gear to trade. (I will make my own post with more detail later). I might want Jerry to do some machining that's a struggle for me, and he might want something plated or some of my electronic junk, or for me to troubleshoot some electronic thing he is having trouble with. Lutz may want a HV transformer made, but he has some vacuum gear I want. Or someone might want me to make them a Ti over Ag target for beam on target neutron generation.

Things like that should go in this forum. I'd suggest making a post with your name as the title with both what you are willing to do and what you want in it, and edit it as the situation changes.

Unlike ebay -- we won't get in the middle of any money involved - that's between y'all if that's how you want to do things. Just don't tell me or the IRS.
Posting as just me, not as the forum owner. Everything I say is "in my opinion" and YMMV -- which should go for everyone without saying.
