Good dessicant

Postby Doug Coulter » Fri Jul 19, 2013 7:49 pm

I've not tried this myself, but I have been going about buying the parts. Water is the enemy of any vacuum, and according to various papers (not just this one by the guys who came up with it) this stuff pretty much kicks butt over all extant dessicants.
It's certainly going to be good for things like drying gas - say from electrolyzing D. It might have a bit too much surface area to think about using it in vacuum, dunnno, but I plan to make some and try it, since it looks fairly easy (if slightly dangerous at the point of boiling methanol off - but I do have a good distillation rig and fume hood). Just a FWIW, and to not lose this paper in the huge mess of terabytes I have here.
