Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Very sad to hear the news of Doug's passing. His health battle progressed faster than most of us hoped or expected.

Doug's open sharing and smart insights on many subjects will be very much missed. I didn't always mention it here, but over many years I used Doug's opinions as a guide on many things ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Congrats on your new lathe add-ons. Looks good.

About 15 yrs back I bought a used metal lathe. A 1980's Taiwan 11 x 36. OK and within driving distance. Owner had added a quick change toolpost (BXA size) and a Sargon 2-axis DRO. Both are now things I would never want to be without.

Quality toolpost ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Doug,
Thanks for the suggestion to move to the "trading markets". Sounds good but I don't think I really have the chops to discuss with any finesse so I think I'll just let it go. I just wanted to offer that paper link for anyone who wasn't acquainted with the basics of MMT.

I personally wouldn't ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Hey Doug,

I send my best wishes that your medical issues get better.

As for keeping your chin up, I get the idea, but make sure nobody is swinging at you. I may be biased. Some years back I kept my chin up just before a bicycle crash and broke it in three places.

I know we shouldn't get too ...

Re: Sensitive reactive targets

I thought that top half from Kuntzman had to be fake or at least edited with extra hyperbole, but no. A quick web search shows that it is extracted from a genuine investigative article he did.

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Doug,
Thanks for the reply to my query about your health. I think you pretty much gave us the story.

Sorry I'm so late to reply. I started to write some of what follows, but got distracted and just got back to it tonight.

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Hey Doug,

Good to hear about the latest projects. I've been checking in, off and on, to see if you've shared anything new.

From recent posts I see a few words about recovering from some health issues. Like these...

"Super busy here, as my health is coming back - strict regimen but it's paying off ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

I was just checking this weeks posts. No one has yet asked about this so I'll jump in.

So Tuesday there's the first image of making 3 rings for your new cage-grid. OK, but what in the world is to the right side of that image? Looks to be the butt end of some mangy animal, coyote?

My, possibly ...

Re: ESP8266 battery monitor

Thanks for sharing again Doug.

What is the WeMos module? Is that the processor plus WiFi board or something else? I did a bit of searching for WeMos but didn't find a match for what you are using.
