Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Yeah, I hope the actual fiber gets hooked in before I can't have fun with it anymore...Right now they're doing the directional drilling stuff to get under culverts and paved driveways, the actual fiber laying truck is parked uphill on my land, no idea how much if any is spliced back to the main ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Well, in the good news portion...the fiber crews are here every day digging in the cables. I should have "real" internet in a month or so, assuming I can be in good enough shape to use it. The plan is to set up server(s) here and move the board and some other really nifty stuff to here, where I have ...

Re: On-demand hot water for shower

Just did a test shower to see how all this works in real life. It's very nice! It uses a lot less water than the old low flow setup did as well and not putting as much past the shower curtain onto the bathroom floor.
Just a lot more efficient, took a lot less to refill the cistern afterward.
And now ...

Re: On-demand hot water for shower

Well, with some parts from Amazon, and some help from Bill, this project seems pretty complete other than the usual workout of any bugs.
Got a seat, some handle/hangers etc installed.

On-demand hot water for shower

"Don't try this at home" - everyone told me it wouldn't work, would burn down the house, kill me with carbon monoxide. whiteboard wouldn't do as it'd rot or sag - even though it doesn't get wet.. Well, nope.

I got a small propane on-demand heater intended for camping (who the heck needs that - some ...

Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Just got back from a couple "procedures" at the hospital after months of test$. Seems to have gone well. More when I recover enough to be able to touch type again.

Re: Really good youtube sites

Not sure who might be interested, but I've been studying WWI stuff, both tech and politics (heck, I own some of the more rare tech...).
I've found a few outstanding channels for this, really head and shoulders above the rest. I found these as sadly, I'm often glued to the couch these days and have ...

Re: Borescope on brass

I've been using a couple of loadings which I think are on the OK side. EG for original swede, not these stronger ones with tighter chambers I built.
One load is 39 gr varget with a 120 gr sierra 25 mils off the lands.
The other is 17 gr 4227 and a cast bullet. CCI large rifle primer in both.

I ...

Re: Borescope on brass

After looking at a bunch more of these inside, and remembering that the trash can is a reloader's best friend (and safety tool), I decided to ditch the win brass and the PPU, it's just not worth it.
I ordered Lapua from Midway, and will keep the Norma, which was essentially also perfect - we'll see ...

Re: Really good youtube sites

So that one was you, Bob? The PF guy is cool for sure. I comment on the channel a fair amount. I've also had good luck with the products he likes - nice to have enough info so you can match the thing to your use case.

I can see many of us are going to be busy checking out some of these we didn't ...
