Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Hi Doug

What a story!
I was unaware of that device.
Thanks for sharing,
best

Re: Glass and Quartz

I will rethink my plan based in your comments.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Glass and Quartz

Good solution, to switch from one fuel to other.

I don´t get your idea about the end caps.
When the lamp be processed and filled with the right mixture, will be sealed off.
In the next future my idea is to use a quartz exhausting tube connected to a compression port. Will use a massive brass nut ...

Re: Glass and Quartz

Hi,
Will try with acetylene, but in a couple of weeks.
By now too much expenses in different products...
A manufacturer told me it is not possible to use hydrogen in a propane torch.

With reference to attach the quartz lamp to the vacuum station, I am planning a 1/4" compression port, with viton o ...

Re: Glass and Quartz

Hi fellows

Here also experimenting with quartz, specifically to develop excimer lamps.
See our last lamp still at the pumping station. It is attached through a quartz to pyrex transition, 1/4" diam.
My hand torch is propane-oxygen and to seal that quartz thickness is cumbersome.
Probably will ...

Re: Directional neutron detector attempt

Hi Doug
Your recent experiments are very interesting .
In the supposition that the neutron generation occurs at the walls, can we immagine a setup in order to confirm the hypotesis?
May be an internal shutter, covering an important part of the wall, then comparing generation in both conditions.
Also ...

Re: Building a new Hornyak neutron detector

Well, going to numbers my Ra-Be source would give at best 10>3 n/s.
Will wait to have my fusor running.

Re: Building a new Hornyak neutron detector

Hi Doug

Glad to know you will try that way.
I had an old NE 402 (92% B 10) coupled to a R6095.
Will try to get some neutrons with a Ra paint and a beryllium window (from damaged diffraction tube).
Do you have some neutron source in order to test your setup -beside your fusor-?

Thanks Doug

Clever approach and clear explanation.
Waiting for next steps.
