Re: Life, The Universe, and Everything

Ah, I never watched it, so...I got into it after hearing about everyone else being pissed off...and going backwards, as it were, it was funny...
Glad to hear you're in the land of the living, I'm on here to activate a couple new users....

Registration is invite-only again

See title. For awhile anyway. We've picked up a bunch of new people and want to be sure we take good care of them with the resources we have.
The plan is to promote the new people to full user status when they show us their stuff.
Joiners who just add numbers to the member list who don't contribute ...

Re: Hi All, from Aus

Actually it's my bad, or phpbb's bad, they defaulted to needed new users approval for every single post and then don't tell me about them unless I ask.
I think I fixed it for this and for playpen, the only places you're allowed to post today. We'll get you promoted fairly soon, as you're obviously ...

Re: Hi All, from Aus

Sorry to take so long to approve your posts...we're all learning in this new mode. Do check out fusor, we share people with them if not always the same opinions. A bit different mission and scope, they have (or did have) a lot of really good FAQs they wrote in self-defence to the endless slight ...

Real names only or registration is rejected

Hey people, this isn't a gamer board, facebook, or for crackers/black hats, period.
A board full of scientists and inventors has some real legal attribution issues. If you have stuff to hide, this ain't the place for it.

If you don't have one, please get a real name before signing up, OK?
If you ...

General tools used here

I'm a Linux guy since way back when I stopped getting paid good money to fix windows issues and write code for windows customers. Worse yet, I'm a perl guy when it comes to high level languages and C or C++ would just take too many keystrokes.
I do try to write perl as though it were C, and make it ...

Re: Greetings from Knoxville !

Good to have you aboard, but exceptional claims require exceptional proof, as you must know. I'm sure it will sort itself out, and yes, we share something - if someone tells me it can't be done, I'll do it.
We don't have a chemistry section even though I do inorganic chemistry - energetics in fact ...

Re: The daily link

The safe house, or one of them, is my place - if any "zombies" even make it to the area, my neighbors, who are like-minded will pick them off on the way in, most likely - and I'll get a warning call. Yeah, it's scary. We let "them" have the best law money can buy to steal from us better, which is ...

Re: Deuterium / Tritium blend

Yeah, I spent two weeks in bed feeling like my blood had turned to water. All ok now as far as symptoms, but hey - no repeats allowed.
My reluctance to give up the mark 1 6 senses (or howevermany) is real, but possible to temper, as I think I might be near the end of the need for it. At first, this ...

Re: Deuterium / Tritium blend

Well, tritium has some serious disadvantages other than being expensive, hard to obtain (legally) and radioactive. Yes, DT has 100x the cross section of DD, roughly. In a gas mix, though, it drops because there will be collisions between DD and TT as well, so that 100x gets trimmed down quite a bit ...
